Hi. Have a bowlback mandolin with the word "harvard" inscribed on a brass plate attached to the bottom of the neck. Family has possessed for 25 yrs. Tks for anyones help.

Sre you sure that it is not "Harwood". Those usually had a small pearl block with those letters at the end of the fretboard. Like this one...
Whoops... I see you said brass plate. My mistake... Looking fwd to some pics. Maybe previous owner went to Harvard.

It does sound like an owner's plate rather than a make. Perhaps a name. Or perhaps someone at Harvard. No doubt Harvard had a mandolin club in the day.
