Hi Everyone,

A couple of months ago I walked into Fiddler's Green and bought a beautiful Kentucky KM-1000. (If you're looking for anything with strings, talk to Ben at Fiddler's Green and he'll do you right. (It is the first brand new instrument I've ever bought and I'm sure proud of it.

A buddy of mine took some pictures of it and I thought I'd share them with everyone here.

Have fun.
I have had a KM-1000 for about 2 years now and really enjoy playing it.
It takes a little while for the red spruce to open up. You should notice it getting
louder as it comes to life more.

Yep, I'm having a ball with this thing.

It's already loud, you say it's going to get louder? Dang, I could use it for crowd control...

It won't necessarily get any louder, but it will 'open up' over time. I've been banging on one at a local store for a few months, and it's sound has improved immeasurably since it arrived. Congratulations. Long may you enjoy it!

I love my "lower end" Kentucky but I have to say that really put some thoughts in my head. Beautiful looking instrument, I hope it plays as well as it looks.

I sold my KM-1000 to a friend last night at our jam. I lost a lot of sleep over selling it, even though I know it is in good hands. Mine was a beautiful Cremona brown burst and had an absolutely wonderful tone and tons of volume. When A/Bed it with my Weber Yellowstone and Nashville era Flatiron...it's right there with both of them. It cut very nicely in Jams and played like butter! I can't emphasize enough how good these mandolins are...they are the creme del a creme in the $1000-$1500 price range.
