I have a KM-700 with serial number if of 080821-2 That does not seem to be a similar format to what other posters are describing for Kentucky mandolins. Does that mean anything to anyone relative to age or where built? It's a nice mandolin but beyond that I don't know much about its pedigree.

Thanks

Chris

Don't look for Kentucky serial numbers to make sense. That's about all I can tell you.

So true! Even the model numbers are confusing. :)

Hi Chris,

It doesn't have the country of origin on the label? If you could post a picture we may be able to narrow it down.

Hello Jim Curlee in Cleburne, Texas.

China mandolin made in 2008.
Thanks, Jim Curlee

The japan mandolins had 5 digit SN or serial numbers like 84.13.5 which was 1984 production.

Thanks, Jim Curlee
