Is there someone here who knows where I could find these albums :
Cache Valley Drifters (?)
Step Up To Big Pay (80)
Tools Of The Trade (83).

I just own an old tape with "Barnyard Boogie", "Feather In The Wind" and "My Baby Thinks She's A Train". They actually swing !

Do they ever! Bill Griffin was the mando man, had a very interesting and hot style. I have at least 1 of those records, let me see what is what.

I've got a vinyl version of "Step Up". They do a great version of "A Smooth One", originally done by Charlie Christian.

Another great cover they did was Prine's Hello In There. Their sound was defined by the 2 guitar approach, I think both played lead. And their arrangements were very thoughtful and worked out. Way cool band.

Thanks for the compliments guys - all three LPs we made for Flying Fish back in the 70s & 80s are no longer in print - those are now owned by Rounder and they don't, at this time anyway, feel inclinded to re-release them (they were pre-CD). I see them now and then on ebay so they can be had - as well as White Room and MightyFine.net, both available on CD. Aloha - Bill Griffin

I recently heard their version of the Grateful Dead's "Cumberland Blues" on satellite radio, anyone know what album that was on? Great stuff!

They used to play up at Cold Springs Tavern on the pass between Santa Barbara and Santa Ynez. One of those rare small venue/great band occasions.

JonZ is right about Cold Springs Tavern - and in fact, CVD will be playing there Thursday June 17, 2010 7pm. We'll be doing our Sunday morning 9am show at the Live Oak Music Festival that weekend. If any of you folks are around, come say howdy...

Well, I just ordered my tickets for Live Oak and that's when I noticed that CVD will be there...and now that I know they will be playing at Cold Springs on Thursday before the festival we may have to try to arrive in the Sta. Ynez Valley a day early. So many fond memories of this band while living in the area back in 70's and 80's. Bill was always a gracious and talented person, and the groove they laid down put a song in the heart and a smile on the lips.

I would be there but, ironically, that's the week I go to June Lake with all of my old Santa Barbara friends.

They were one of my favorite groups in the 70's, 80's. I used to see them at The Down Home in Johnson City, Tenn.

I also have a vinyl copy of "Step Up." I'm actually considering putting most, if not all, of my folk collection on eBay now that I've got them all transferred to digital.

Rainy day here, going through the stack, have the CVD 1st LP up and running. Boy howdy, this takes me back...great songs and picking.
