At the risk of appearing stupid, What is a C# mandolin? Is it a Body Style like an F or a tuning method? I see it used in Bussman's mandolas. Just curious.

The note which is halfway between A and F is C#. This is a humorous way to say that the mandolin is a cross between and F Style and an A style.

Actually, C# is a programming language and maybe the first thing Microsoft ever really got right... :))

Bill Bussmann refers to his 2 pointers as C# mandolins (http://www.oldwavemandolins.com/photo_csharp.html). Dr. Dave Cohen's hook scroll F5 body is refered to as a C# mandolin (http://users.erols.com/judcohen/models.html) as well. If you build it, you get to name it!

Wow, I had it wrong. I thought it was a gentle jibe about being out of tune, playing in the key of C# while everyone else was in C.
