Looking for recommendations for an experienced mandolin luthier in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area of NC. Ben Runckle is way behind & not taking many repairs these days until he clears out his back-log.

Here are two pages worth of builders in North Carolina (http://www.mandolincafe.com/cgi-bin/builders/searchdb.cgi?uid=default&view_records=1&keyword=North+Carolina&submit=Search+again) from our Database. Sorry I can't make specific recommendations.

There is a great set up guy in Raleigh named Greg hanson. I have some friends that go
to him.

Tony Sullivan in Pittsboro is also another excellent choice. He's done the setup for all of my mandolins for a good while now and he's always done excellent work. He's also an authorized Martin repair man (not really mandolin related, but so often the repair man is best known for being someone who can figure out how setup a Les Paul so it's good to have someone with experience in acoustic instruments).

Skip Kelley in Thomasville not too far away could do you a set up. Worth a trip to see his latest builds.

I was just going to suggest the same thing.

Could try Hanson & Crawford (http://hansonandcrawford.com/). I haven't personally used them, but I know people (some who play professionally) that have. I've heard nothing but good things about them. I believe High Strung (http://www.highstrungdurham.com/) in Durham also has an in-house luthier.
