Here are some pics that Robb sent my way of his recently completed H-5 mandola. Here are the specs he sent me,
Spec as follows:
Big leaf maple back, sides, and neck
Adirondack spruce top
Tortoise binding
12” radius ebony fingerboard
Gotoh tuning machines with Buffalo horn buttons
Vintage bone nut
Custom 12 “ radius ebony bridge
Fern inlay on headstock
Hand engraved James tailpiece
Hand rubbed Satin spirit varnish finish

I enjoyed looking at them and figures others might as well.

I am looking for a mandola builder and remembered his posts on facebook. I think I'll contact him.

Robb does nice work and I've considered having him build me a mandolin. Make sure to check out the Elkhorn website. Before I edited this, it said that he did not work!:))

I must admit that blonde stringed instruments are my weakness - and this one makes me very weak indeed!

Congratulations!

Yes, Robb does build a very good mandolin and word on the street is there is a sister F-5 that is nearing completion. I believe there are some pictures of it on the Elkhorn Facebook page.

This really did turn out to be a special instrument! As Troy mentioned above, I'm just stringing up the Blonde F-5 mate to this instrument in the next couple of days. I'll post a few pics. Thanks for all the kind words! Robb

Very nice indeed. I like seeing the mandolin's bigger cousins so well executed.
