Just visited Jackson's music in Winston Salem, N.C. this afternoon. They are a Gibson dealer. Never noticed this before but was looking at the mandolins in the case they have them in, full frontal view so its easy to see. I noticed the Doyle Lawson F-5, and the Goldrush F-5 have f holes that are obviously smaller/ narrower than the other Gibson F-5 models. Any of the rest of ya'll noticed this ?, allright that was probably a dumb question as I'm sure you have. My thinking on why they did this maybe has to do with giving these two models a little differant tone ? Any ideas ? Big Joe would know. read in one post that the Lawson F tone bars were placed a little differant than norm, could it be that I'm right on this ?
