i HAVE A FRIEND THAT WANT'S TO PLAY, i'm no teacher. So i thought i would ask the enlightened ones what i should tell her. She does not want to take lessons ( now ) So fire away

Here is a good place to start, I totally agree. But you said she does not want to take lessons-meaning she is oppossed to any form of teaching or just she does not want to (or maybe can't afford to) go to a teacher? If it is the later, show her what you can and get her a book with a play along video and cd. Let her figure it out on her own. The "you can teach yourself" series from Melbay is about as good as any of them, but there are certainly a ton of systems out there. If she does not want to read music, or tab and play along with a book, perhaps "the Murphy Method" would be good for her.
