The owner said he thought about refinishing it because he saw a few scratches in the original finish!

Looks like mahogany from this side, but maple or birch, judging from the shot of the label.

Actually one of his experts said to refinish it. That's really scary.

Quick let me call Amy up, she goes for those black instruments! Oh wait she already has 2 very early A's and they aint black. But that one is getting really worn from years of picks hitting around the sound hole.
Seriously, it is a beautiful instrument. Should have nice tone to it.

Congratulations to whoever got this one. The Birch back looks great, beautifully centered and I’ll bet it sounds as good as it looks. Any thoughts of refinishing it would certainly be a crime, maybe good for five to ten...:))

Not that I need another mandolin, but for as cheap as it went I would have bid! that's one of the if not THE nicest old Gibson A I have seen.
