So I finally hit 50! Well, that's not quite accurate. Actually 51 was 50. But the guy who was getting it already had 31 and 41. So even though it was 50 I numbered it 51 so he'd have 31, 41, and 51. So that left #50 unused so I made this one 50 even though it's really 51.

50 is a minor milestone I suppose, so minor congratulations to you!
Looks great, as usual. I had to take a second look because the two mandolins on my bench right now have modified A3 peghead inlays! They're different from yours though.

Beautiful work Jim. I'd love to get to play one of your mandolins some day!

John, that inlay goes back to a mandolin I made in the 90's. I had gotten a Stew-Mac vintage instrument calendar that had a picture of an A-3 along with a couple of other mandolins. The inlay was quite small in the photo and trying to scan and enlage didn't help much so I ended up with this facsimile of the actual inlay.

Doesnt that mess up your log book? ;)

Great job- I'd bet it sounds as good as it looks. Now that you've made 50 (51) I am only 49 (50) behind you. At what point do you get the feeling that you know what you're doing?

That kind of sounds "like who's on first"

Nice Mando regardless of the number.
