Recently I was given a mandolin. I am no expert in this field, and have no idea the model, or anything about it to determine value. I took pics, and I am hoping one of you can help me out. Any help is appreciated. With that being said, its in pretty good shape, has an original price tag, which was 50 bucks, which is what my grandfather payed. Inside it says 1.00 c then penciled in is 3, doesnt mean a whole lot to me lol. I also spoke to gibson, and they said something like this particular one only 100 were made I believe?

Any help on identifying the model and possible value would be great.

Going by the Vintage Guitars Gibson website info, (http://home.provide.net/~cfh/gibson8.html#a50) looks like a mid-1930's A-50. Both front and back are bound, which was characteristic of A-50's. It has f-holes, which replaced the oval soundhole in 1934, but it doesn't have a bound pickguard or a fleur-de-lis headstock inlay, which were introduced in 1937. The headstock inlay was switched to a small diamond in 1942, and by 1950 or so the inlaid "Gibson" was replaced by the modern block-letter decal.

I'm not sure what you're finding written on the label. There's a fairly elaborate explication of Gibson serial numbers and factory order numbers at the same website. Also, the model number was often written on the label; does it say "A-50" anywhere?

Vintage A-50's seem to be selling between $1K and $1.5K. This one appears in good condition.

These years did not have labels in the lower end A models.
If the FON is 100 C 3 this would be the 3rd one made in 1937 of batch 100. It is the A-50 model.
