Does anyone know of any mandolin dealers in DC or music stores you might recommend?

Thanks,
Jimmy

The closest to DC itself would be the House of Musical Traditions (http://www.hmtrad.com/) , a few blocks over the border in Takoma Park, MD (easily accessible from the metro).

Melodee Music (in Northern VA) carries Breedlove, Weber, and Eastman.

Appalachian Bluegrass outside of Baltimore (in Caton) is the best place I know of around here.

Washington Music Center has a nice selection of mandolins. Foxes Music had a nice selection of Eastman's last time I was there. And a small road trip south to Frederickburg is Picker's Supply, a favorite of mine.

Dave Schenkman has some mandolins at Turtle Hill Banjo which is about an hour outside of DC. You need to make an appointment to visit his shop. http://www.turtlehillbanjo.com/THBCMandolins.html

Hey, thanks for all the help. I'll be paying a visit to House of Musical Traditions since I can get there via the Metro. I also got a nice email from them too...I'm looking forward to playing some instruments that I don't get a chance to where I live...maybe my wife will let me buy something (if I'm nice)

Second the vote for Melodee in Leesburg.....think he has a sale one Weber Mandos right now. Most of what he orders has Red Spruce tops as I recall
