Our band spent a couple wild and crazy days at the MO Valley (IA) festival. Did a bunch of stages and plenty of good jammin. Great, great time.

Couple highlights for me was being able to do some good mando tasting. Of note were the following:

- Rigel G5 - Wow. Everything i love about my A Natural x 3 plus a loud BG bark. If there was ANY way i could pony up the $$ for this baby, i'd have it in a second. Sweet.

- 10 year old Hutto - Wow again. Deep, rich tone but still had the cutting power. Jammed with this one for some time and loved it more with each note. A real gem.

- A brand new JME. John Martin out of Arkansas, has built guitars for the likes of Doyle Lawson... his shop is making mandos.. and dang good ones. They know how to voice for BG. Pricing is around $3k and worth every dime.

- Rigel CT-110 - One of the famous Blue One's. Sweet box... what a beauty.. no picture does it justice. Great sound, too and you know about Rigel playability.

- Did not get to play but heard a Paganoni (#11 i believe) on stage. Holy smokes... what a total monster! I've never heard its equal. Tone can't be described... you had to be there. Amazing.

I'm not sure whether to cherish the sweet moments with these fantastic boxes or drop a couple cyanide tablets to end the pain of terminal MAS.....................

Hey,
I was there on Saturday all day. What a fun time. I looked at those mandos. I didn't pick any up and play though. I've played the a A+ deluxe before and all the other Rigels are kind of out of my price range. Guitar is more my forte and I just bought a new Collings so my desire to get a great mandolin will have to wait. You didn't enter the mandolin contest did you?
