Naw, guitar goes first, I would never sell or give up mandolin.

If I had to sell everything first my mandolin would bring me money(change) on the street for some food and a place to sleep. Nothing else I own would!!!!;)

I might sell my mandolin, BUT I wouldn't sell my other mandolin.

I think if I were absolutely stuck with keeping only one instrument I'd probably have to hang onto the harp. I think, though, the guitar would be the first to go (although even that would break my heart), I'm a mediocre guitar player at best and, while I'm not a genius at other instruments, the world would miss one more mediocre guitar player less than such rare species as a decent harper or even an aspiring mandolin player.

If the house was on fire ,I would make sure my wife, kids and cat got out safe. Then I would crawl back in and rescue my lovely old plain Jane 49 A40. My two Ibanez guitars, Hound Dog Dobro, 5.string banjo, bozouki, Levin mandola and old time fiddle might be left to rescue themselves...

Bought, sold, traded, gave away lots of instruments. I always kept the ones that had special meaning to me. The only one I regret letting go, no reason to sell, was a Silver Anniversary Alvarez acoustic guitar. No doubt that was the best playing guitar I have ever owned. So I would sell the Harley first if things get tough

If the house was on fire ... and my wife and daughters were safe ... I'd grab my Bible with one hand, the mandolin with the other.

Ronnie, not only would I sell my mint condition, fretless, walnut finish Fender Jazz Bass, it's yours for just $500!

Better that you get an appraisal and insurance--save yourself and and call 911. This is what happens when you have to rescue someone out of a burning house that went back in to rescue stuff. I don't get paid for this--. This equipment is designed to resist heat --your not!
