What is a 1988 Gibson F5 Fern worth?

I have a friend that has a 1988 Gibson F-5 Fern mandolin. I plan to help her sell it. She says its in mint condition. But I need to know it's approximate worth. Any one know and could send a $$ figure my way?

i have sold them for as much as $4500 ,and as little as $3800 ,so i would think at this time $4000 is where i would start.
