Please help me with the best pickup for a bouzouki for my boss in the band. I am leaning towards the PUTW #27 or an I-Beam. HELP! It is a flat top.

Check out the EMG-B or EMG-BZ pickups, they are both active pickups intended for the traditional Greek bouzouki & will mount in the sound hole. www.emginc.com search for bouzouki.
If you want a transducer type pickup I've installed several B-Band AST transducers in bouzoukis with good results, you can use the endpin preamp on a traditional Greek style bowl or any of thier side mounts with controls if itiis a flat back or has the extra wide first rib on a bowl back.
Another option is the Lace California Acoustic soundhole pickup if the soundhole is the right size.
These all have more of a "zook" sound than the I-beam.

I use a Phil Crump B-II and I LOVE the PUTW #27 in it!! I run it thru a Raven Labs PMB-II (along with a #27 in a Santa Cruz OM PW guitar) to the PA and it works great.
