Cool video. I have an album with Dawg & Frank where they play September Song ("Living Room Sessions or some such name...great BTW) but I'm not sure if this is the same.

Great tune ! I like this version.
But, it's not a Django's tune: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/September_Song
even he played that tune: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7aOnRO1v9E

Frank is going to be in Michigan next month. I'll be there.

I think that is beautiful. Robin Nolan is a great player.

Is there a recording of this group? It would appear to be a recording session so perhaps one is forthcoming. It looks quite recent - I note Dawg seems to have cut his hair a bit!

His rhythm playing is terrific.

Here's a Lotte Lenya version that has the verse sung in the middle.

Quite a few of those Weil tunes have a drama to them that is a nice match for the sound of the mandolin, from jazz to string band settings...

All the best,

Is it just me...or does David get some of the best tremolo tone in the world?

It's not just you. He is still really terrific.

I've downloaded this album, and am enjoying it a lot. Of course I don't have any sleeve notes, which I am missing a bit. Has anyone got some detail - where and when it was recorded etc?

You are correct, David has one of the best tonal attacks in the biz absolutely. Being Bias to more than a degree, it is a benchmark for me.
Dang, the Dawg is looking rather dapper and shorn here...?! Last time we visited he commented on my really short hair...but, it was just because I'm goin bald and didn't want to comb over.
isn't Frank just a beautiful player?
