As a newbie, I'm wondering if there are any print-based mando magazines out there.

Fretboard Journal usually has some mando content. Once No Depression left business, I'm left without a favorite, but I often look at Dirty Linen.

Were you to go to the 'links' on the left side of the homepage, you would see there are 4 listed there,
may be more in UK , Europe , and Japan too , but they have not checked in to be listed.
