http://www.mandolincafe.com/cmsa/groups/troster.html reveals this alarming message:

The group you are looking for is no longer performing as a Duo.
What gives?

They are divorced.

I assumed...but when did this happen? Their duo was one of the only exposures to live mandolin music my friend the publisher Matanya Ophee has had. He raved about how evident Michael's adoration for Gertrud was. I suppose this is evidence that duos are perhaps more stable between those who are not romantically involved. If they ever happen by here, I do wish them both well and hope each finds continued success. They are both remarkable players.

I heard it from Michael himself nearly a year ago. Itīs indeed a great pity that the duo is no more. And I fully agree with you that both are fantastic players.

Even longer than a year ago I recall. Gertrude has been performing with another guitarist for some time now.

Wow, I guess I've been too embroiled in day-job duties over the last year. It seems to me they played on the Philadelphia Guitar Society series just before then.

Ah, Eugene... sad to say that the Guitar Society president is often the last to know http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

It is a shame but I suppose that is partly the result of on the job romance. Better to separate the two functions. They did play beautifully together tho.

Apropos this topic, I believe that Gertrud is using her maiden name, Weyhofen. In which case the masthead of the CMSA (the honorary directors), as on p. 2 of the current newsletter, needs to be changed.

Really sad! Eugene said it quite right about the both players and about "that duos are perhaps more stable between those who are not romantically involved!". Right! Thank God we both - me and my guitar colleague Danney, are not romantically involved!http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif
I hope our duo will last! And there are also another positive things concerning this!http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Good luck!

...And thank God I'm not romantically involved with my usual partners. #Such a thing would certainly become awkward...and probably offend my wife (not to mention their husbands).

Eugene,

Tell us about your ensemble. I am probably not the only one who is curious.

Eugene,

Not that exciting. We do the typical fare for such an ensemble: weddings, coffee houses, occasional radio station/public events, etc. I play guitars and mandolins and Linda and Kim play flutes.

More exciting to the public at large would be the concert series I organize:
Columbus Guitar Society (http://www.columbusguitarsociety.org/index.htm)

Thanks, Eugene.

In addition to finding your series exciting (and wishing I was closer...), I found a link to some old friends I hadn't seen in a while, Jay Gray and Ron Pearl. What a pleasant surprise for a Friday and a good excuse to get back in touch. Thanks again.
