Wondering if there are any books similat to Terence Penders Italian mandolin book only with Greek music. Hopefully fun tunes. If not any fun song recommendations I can look for individually will do. Also not extrememly complicated. Thanks John http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Indeed, Victor is our own resident vkioulaphides. He should be able to offer you as much on "where" as anybody.

I just replied to you via MC-messenger, John. Thanks for your interest.

As for Google... ah, the semblance of fame! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif I come up with 183 entries under my name. Ha, ha, ha... First amongst them (mercifully) is my homepage, through which one can get the Mandolinatas— or, for that matter, any other of my works, original or arranged.

*sigh* We're on the same page, now.

Ah, the honor of being googled! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

As requested, John, I have already shipped you the Mandolinatas.

To clarify something else, however: All the other, numerous works you see on my homepage are largely unpublished; in other words, I can easily send you a copy of anything that strikes your fancy, entirely free. It is only those works that are published, and therefore not exclusively my personal property, that are for sale. (e.g. The Unlikely Voyagers, published by Hal Leonard Co., In Jubilo, published by Liben, etc.) All the rest is yours —and of any MC friend—#for the asking.

To also clarify: The Mandolinatas are by far the simplest mandolin music on my catalogue, as they are compilations of traditional, folk/popular mandolin music from Greece, circa 1800-1920. All is readily playable in first position, plenty of open strings, and fairly simple, straightforward pick-strokes. Be not afraid, my friend!

Try this URL (http://www.geocities.com/scoresgr/scores.html) -- you left out the two slashes.

Victor, original or arranged? I'm curious what's the difference.
And to anyone else and Victor are there any mp3s posted anywhere of this music or cds with these songs on them. I mean for visore songs and from the link. Preferably solos but anything will do/Thanks all John

Well, John, what I meant is this (speaking of my catalogue):

I understand the gist of this thread to be a quest for, ehm... traditional, i.e. typical, characteristic, collective, folk/popular, etc. Greek music for mandolin. My Mandolinatas are collections/arrangements precisely of that kind of music; none of it was originally composed by me and I take no undue credit by listing myself as "composer". I have been merely the editor and arranger of pre-existing musical material, some of it dating back to the early 19th century, some more recent.

I hope you enjoy playing that sweet, jolly stuff as much as I enjoyed putting it together over the years. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Cheers,

Victor
