Gibson A tone or X braced?

Hi All,

I have a 1920 Gibson A.

Would this be X braced or tone braced? (Yes I've tried to look in the soundhole :)

Jill, that mandolin will have a single transverse brace.
It is not an X brace or a tone bar.
If you stick your finger in the soundhole pointing towards the tailpiece you will feel it.
It is suprisingly small.
Sometimes they come loose which puts the the top in jeopary of sinking.
If you feel any movement in it then you should have it looked at by a qualified repair person.
