Grandma's friend pulled it out of his closet. Looked for brand, serial, and as far as I can see there's no markings.

Know for a fact its 65 years old or more

Need help identifying it, here's some pics.

Would appreciate the help from experienced mandolin players.

Thanks!

Definitely more than 65 years old. That would put it at only 1944 and there were very few American bowlbacks made around then. I would say Lyon & Healy made in the teens of the last century. I have a model 602 in a 1913 catalog that resembles it, 13 ribs etc. Headstock is very similar to L&H ones.

Thanks appreciate that

I'm more of a guitar guy, so I don't have much knowledge of the instruments history

Any idea what the worth of it is?

They are on eBay daily for less than $200.00, sometimes way less.

Thanks. I was hoping it'd be worth more. O well

Cool bowl!

I agree, probably c.1910/1915 or so Lyon & Healy bowlback. Probably sounds pretty decent, too, once it's setup.

I don't think my grandmother's friend wants to keep it. He has arthritis in his hands. Might be in luck. I'm not sure if you guys are interested in guitars but he also owns a Gibson hollow which dated the 1950's figuring it's an es125. I thought it was cool it had a wooden bridge. This isn't his guitar but here's a picture of the model. I think I'm going to go treasure hunting next time I'm at his house.
