Here's my first and only attempt at scooping a fingerboard. I pulled the last 5 fret wires and used a cylindrical hand file to make the scalloped grooves, then a flat file to reduce the height of the ridges. The 2 ornamental stones were added at the suggestion of my young son. They needed to be set into shallow depressions in the scoop which were made with a grinding stone in a power drill so the strings wouldn't click against them when playing up the neck.
