View Full Version : Embedding Vimeo and MySpace videos

Someone suggested allowing Vimeo videos be embedded in the forum. No problem. There has always been the ability to embed MySpace videos as well but they didn't have their own icon/tool in the new post or reply area. Now MySpace does have a tool/icon.

Examples and instructions. Note, follow these instructions and it'll work. Do anything else and you're on your own. Even though it may work if you flail around and take a wild guess at how it should be done, doing so incorrectly can cause problems for the video down the road. Without going into the technical reasons for this which most of you don't want to know, just trust from someone that does, please :).

Vimeo:

Each video has a video "ID". From the video http://www.vimeo.com/5486226, you'd insert 5486226 as the information (using the Vimeo link in reply or new post mode) to embed the video, (TIP: look in the browser web address for this info) as such:

MySpace:

A little tricker. Look in the web address bar. For the video http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=19877868 you need to pluck the numbers that follow videoid, so 19877868 gets inserted into the YouTube icon/tool link in new post or reply mode.

Likely other ways of doing these two but remember, there's always an "ID" that identifies the video and that is *all* that is needed. Remember, you get it working any other way, can cause potential problems down the road. Trust me.
