See more photos of the newly finished "Guittern" over HERE (http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/showthread.php?p=692798#post692798). This is a five stringed guitar bodied instrument with a 25.5" scale length tuned CGDAE. I wanted to call it a mandocello, but it's really not. It's not really a guitar and it's not really a cittern.

Very cool, that thing must rumble!

And I see you're a man of taste, too! (John Pearse)

Rumble and sing. The sound port does some delightful things with sound projection I can't quite describe yet except to say the sound is more "present" to both player and listener.

Looks wonderful, Phil. I really like the body shape. Let us know when you post some sound clips. :mandosmiley:

I build a similar stringed instrument dubbed "Boomer". It has a perfectly round 11 inch diameter active soundboard with a separate amplifier chamber that gives it an incredible acoustic output. It can be tuned either C-G-D-A with the short top string E or like a banjo D-G-B-D with the short string G an octave higher. It is still being refined and the one shown is for me a Lefty. I am currently taking orders, anyone interested can contact me at workyla@gvtc.com.

Lefty, that instrument deserves a thread of its own. :)
Phil, great looking instrument. Good sound to it. Looks like fun.
