Where could I buy a correctly compensated bridge for a flattop octave mandolin?

what type of octave mandolin do you have? and why do you want to change the bridge? I have a T.C. octave mandolin and just wondering what the benefits would be?

You could ask Red Henry (http://www.murphymethod.com/redbridge.html) too...

I have a flattop electric OM made by a local guitar builder and the bridge is a piece of junk. That's why I want a new one.

Most likely your saddle / bridge will have to have the intonation cut for that particular instrument and set of strings. I suggest you contact Steve Smith at Cumberland Acoustic for a bridge. He can make one with enough material in the saddle to allow some trimming to get the intonation right.

Now we get to an interesting (to me) question: Should one who wants a "correctly compensated bridge" set up his mandolin multiple times and find where the bridge should be on each string, and mark each string at that point? With all strings under tension, one could then see whether the bridge already in hand could be trimmed to match all strings together, even if it involves cutting it down a sixteenth or two. Is this wrong-minded?
