What is the scoop on the Epiphone Two Point mando of the late 70's?

I think the one with the oval hole was made at the same factory as the Alvarez. My oval hole Alvarez 2-point is a keeper and I just love to play it. It's not so much a bluegrass instrument, but has good tone - along the lines of an oval hole. I have just restrung it with the FT-74s and it worked out well for me.

I had to re-set a neck in one of those many years ago after the owner left it in the car on a hot day.
It had a dovetail joint, but was fit very poorly with glue filling up the big gaps.
Don't let one of these get hot!

I know someone who has an Alvarez two point with F holes. That is the only one I've seen with F holes. Why weren't many made with F holes? I assume Jethro had something to do with it.
