I'm looking for tab and cords for Blue Eyed Girl. I have this tune on an old time fiddle CD. I really like it. I pretty much have the melody down, but would like it written to share with a guitar backup.

I've searched the tabs available and archives with no success. I can't believe it's not in all the books I've bought.

Thanks, Mike

It's in the Digital Tradition. My preferred DT mirror (http://sniff.numachi.com/~rickheit/dtrad/) seems to be down at the moment, but once it's up you should be able to get the tune in standard notation there. If the mirror isn't up when you try, go here (http://www.mudcat.org) and download the database (which is well worth having permanently on your computer).

In the Digital Tradition, Blue-Eyed Girl is notated in C, with an eight-bar tune. Looks pretty straightforward. Sorry, no tabs or chords.

hello mike,
"Blue eyed gal", is a less common name for the tune often known as "Fly around my pretty little miss" or "Suzana Gal"....Gary S

The DT mirror site is back up now, and Blue-Eyed Girl is here. (http://sniff.numachi.com/~rickheit/dtrad/pages/tiBLUEYEGL;ttBLUEYEGL.html)

Seems to me that the tune is a variant of "Seventeen Come Sunday".

That one's in The NLCR book from oak publications called "old-time string band song book" a book I deem necessary for every old-time player. It has all the greats.

Mr. Srubas, thanks for the reply and I need one of those books. Do you know any online places where a fellow might find that songbook? What does NLCR stand for?

NLCR stands for New Lost City Ramblers-an important group in the old time revival. Originally the band consisted of Mike Seeger, John Cohen and Tom Paley. Then Tracy Schwartz replaced Paley. You can find the book at various places, including Amazon. Search for Old Time String Band Songbook.
