Doing some educational research in Scotland and Ireland from July 5-17th. Anyone have any suggestions for great places to see local music?

Where in Ireland will you be? If you're in Dublin, then either The Cobblestone or Hughes's pubs are a good bet for a session. In Galway The Crane Bar would be where I'd head to. There is also decent music at the Roisin Dubh. If you check the upcoming events link at www.irishmusicmagazine.com you might be able to see what is happening around the country during the timeframe that you're there. If your visit was a week earlier I'd say head to Roscommon Town for the Connaught Fleadh Cheoil, but it ends on July 5th. I'd love to be home for that as it's only about 20 minutes away from my house.

Cheers,
Jill

Could you delay your visit until mid-August? If so, I have never had more fun that when we visited Edinburgh during Festival season (http://www.eif.co.uk/). (But then again, you wouldn't likely accomplish much research with that party as a backdrop. ;) )

Rob, I hope you had a great trip! Are you back?

How about a report for those of us who can't go just now?
