One of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written.

The MP3 of A Place in the Heart (http://www.mandolincafe.net/mp3/placeintheheart.mp3)

The Tab for A Place in the Heart (http://www.mandolincafe.com/tab/placeintheheart.txt)

Thanks, Mike.

I also hired John McGann a few years back to score out the piece... including some probably errors in my playing. He did a marvelous job. Stored here: http://www.mandolincafe.com/pdf/placeintheheart.pdf

And I did my own standard/tab version, a simpler version here: http://www.mandolincafe.com/pdf/placeintheheart2.pdf. Apparently minus chords... oh well.

I play the tune a bit differently on the Butch CD. These pieces tend to change over the years.

For me, knowing the story behind a song I particularly enjoy really adds a whole deminsion for it to me. Thanks, Scott.

It is nice hearing the story behind "A Place in the Heart." It is a great chart and one that I play thru at least twice a month. We just did a wedding that it would've been perfect for, too. But for some reason I'd never thought of playing it for one... *adds to list*

Anyways, thanks for the back story.

I was sitting at Wintergrass waiting for the next group to come on stage. They play a recording while they are setting up the stage for the next group. There was a great mandolin song playing on the recording. I told my friend I wish I new the name of the song, so I could try and find the music. I forgot about it, because I didn't think I would ever hear the song again. Yesterday I was on the Mandolin Cafe website, and just happen to click on a song in the MP3 list. It ended up being the song that I heard at Wintergrass. The song was A Place In The Heart. They must have been playing the Road Home CD. Thanks Scott for providing the music. It's one of those songs that I will never get tired playing.
