No real mandolin connection here, but Queen of the Blues Koko Taylor passed away yesterday. Yeah, She "...Got What It Takes." The blues are a little bluer today.

Sorry to hear of Koko's passing. She was quite a lady. I had the pleasure of introducing her once at The Ellington in Lynchburg, VA.

Small in stature, but she had a huge voice and a band that would peel the paint off the walls.

"Let the good times roll..."

Yeah, I was sad to hear that on the radio last night (driving back from my weekly jam, actually!). Had the pleasure of seeing her a couple of times at a club where I was a dishwasher back in the eighties. A real class act, and a helluva voice! She'll be missed.

Koko was the Queen. Here is a clip of her doing Willie Dixon's Wang Dang Doodle. Little Walter on harp, Hound Dog Taylor on guitar. Enjoy!

That's cool:cool: Isn't that Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee waiting on the side to play next?
I saw Koko tear it up a bluesfest in Eschoeag, R.I. in '74. RIP, Koko.
