View Full Version : My new F4

Well, I am posting pics of my attempt at an F4 mandolin. It is far from perfect, but I think it sounds pretty good. I did my best to make it look like an antique. With each one that I put together, I learn more and more...maybe someday I can make a nice one! I made the nut from a piece of mammoth ivory. The points (I had no idea how to make them) were also made of ivory.

Looks really good!http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/images/smilies/cool.gif
Tell me, is it an IV kit? How did you brace it inside?
I've been working on an F4 from IV, they're great kits to learn on.

It is the kit from IV. I put two braces in it. One just behind the sound hole and one further down where the bridge would cross. I know it isn't traditional...but I really am not very traditional anyway.
