This band has been on the cafe a few times. I like them. Here's a link that works (http://www.stupidvideos.com/video/just_plain_stupid/AwesomeBizarre_Street_Performers/#36411). I can't recall the band name but I'll see if I can find the old links.

The band name is "The wrong trousers" and here's (http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=41293&highlight=harp) a link to a past thread that has more links. They were featured on the main page of the cafe a while back.

Fun band...When I lived in San Diego, I would see them in Balboa Park seems like nearly every weekend. The mandolin player has been to the Mandolin Symposium a few times...

Well, I'll be! I posted a couple of videos of The Wrong Trousers at the Other Songs Converted To Bluegrass thread ("http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/showthread.php?p=657009)just last week, post #73. Guess the word was already out about them ...

Does somebody NOT like this? It's plenty musical, reeking of enthusiasm, and witty to boot.

I agree, very entertaining. Then again, it might just be me... if I wasn't learning mandolin, I;d be learning harp (as my wife is doing now)

I agree. The busking video is a little rough, but the enthusiasm carries it. The TV appearance is a big improvement in sound - you can hear how good the bass player is for instance - and you get a feel for their thought processes. The link I posted last night to the Other Songs Converted to Bluegrass thread (http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=50201) isn't working; this one does, then go to page 3, post #73.

Seems like they're getting the A-OK around here. It's whoever posted their video to that http://www.stupidvideos.com/ site who had some sort of problem with them - clearly not a member, and probably not a mandolinist, and apparently lacking in the erudition prevalent among both these groups, if I may say so! :)

Joseph Lorge (the mando player in this clip) and the harpist Kelsea Rae Little are good friends of mine and still play together, only MUCH better now. (Truth be told, Joe is embarrased as heck of that clip these days). Here's a link to their newer material: www.myspace.com/thewrongtrousers

If you're in the LA or San Diego areas, you can catch them every now and again for shows. They've toned down their touring a bit since Joe started going to school at UCLA for ethnomusicology.

Ah, everyone is critical of their past work. I've seen some more recent clips (the B&W ones on youtube live on a radio show are good) and they have turned into a good little group. They've become much more than the silly novelty act I thought this first video was.

Hey now! Words are fun, ain't they? So many of them never get used, it's a shame. There's usually a better way of saying just about everything. ;) In this instance I was alluding to the sophistication evidenced among our constituent membership, a conceptualization so obvious and immediately apparent as not to have necessitated being remarked upon .. or not ... :whistling:
