Hello everyone!

I have what it looks like genuine Vinaccia mandolin in pretty bad condition. The label inside says:"Gaetano Vinaccia di Gennaro, Rua Catalano 96,
Anno 19. I'm curious what year it is because all it is written inside is anno 19.
Please, could someone give me info about its value in present condition or how expensive would restoration be?
Thanks in advance.

The only Gaetano Vinaccia I have with that same style label is inked in 1906. That mandolin is about similar ornamentation and yours is probably made around the same time.

This is a plain model but Gaetano is considered a good maker of the family. The bowl needs complete restoration and might cost a fair amount. it looks like it was stored under very poor conditions. Value in the present condition (but only assuming it is a real Vinaccia) might be a few hundred dollars but it would probably cost maybe $500-800 just to restore it.

My advice is to bring it to a good luthier. Perhaps you can tell us where you live and maybe someone can recommend a restorer.
