So, just what did you use to record it? I'd like to know. I want to record some things with my mandolins to add them to the tone records here. Not that I'd be the one playing anything fancy.

I really enjoyed hearing that mandolin. It seemed to have boatloads of sustain, and really sounded nice.

thanks ..yes it does seem to have a boatload of sustain..
I record with Riffworks software from Sonoma
http://www.sonomawireworks.com/index.php

and I use a line 6 toneport UX2...with gearbox...it has 2 mic inputs and 2 instument inputs and connects to computer by USB
for the Mando test I just played live into a mic.. no effects or anything..into Riffworks then mixed it to a wave then a MP3 file
here is a link to some stuff I have recorded
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=869128

you can record guitar ..bass ..keyboards all direct to computer with no interference.. but when you mic an acoustic instrument or sing ...well... watch out for the telephone or the barking dog:))

thank you very much amy... I really am happy with ordering from Jon Mann....we never met and I never got to try one of his Mandos.....all communication was by email or phone....he always followed up and was great to work with. I have played guitar since 1964 (full time for a while) but have just started playing mandolin in the last year or so...really enjoying learning this fascinating instrument.

Is that the flatback or the carved back? Sounds wonderful! Enjoy.

Very beautiful instrument! I have always liked the look and concept of mr. Mann's neck-through design. Thank you for posting!

It's not quite as pretty as my Mann 2pt. but ....It is gorgeous... Jon does great work and he got mine to me a long time before I expected it! It sounds like you are going to enjoy it as much as I do mine. I personally think that D'Addario Ft74 FlatTops sound better on it than any other set that I have had on there. Congratulations on such a fine instrument.

I was very close to ordering one of his mandolins. I'm also thinking of buying the one in the classifieds right now.
