As noted in the news section Joe has a new mandolin lead method he plans on using in class this summer. Well, he gave us a preview last summer and it was well received by the mandoheads. I like it because it emphasizes the fundamental melody. For me, getting the melody down is the most important thing in a tune. Variations go from there.
