View Full Version : Gibson M-6
The actual scale length seems to be a guarded secret. I'm wondering if it might be possible to tune the six strings in fifths; with carefully chosen gauges of course.

Does Gibson still make the M-6??
Seems like a terrible idea....
like making a steel car look like
fiberglass... then covering it with furr..

Charlie, I had no idea. It's truly amazing that it exists at all. What is the history of this animal at your end...were in the world...
Thanks Charlie, that answers my question. At just a 32nd of an inch longer than a "regular" mandolin, stringing the M-6 in fifths would not be practical.
Krishna, check out Gibson's website for info on the M-6. It's a new offering.
