I have played piano and violin for years. Recently decided I wanted to learn mandolin but didn't want to spend much til I tried it out. So I went to ebay and bought one for about 30.00 .Too good to be true? I reckon so. The frets are place wrong or something apparently because the first fret on the G string seems to sound more like A than the A flat that it ought to sound like. Other frets are off too. The tuning method suggested in the book I purchased ; seventh fret on each string should match next higher string, does not work at all. The sixth fret sounds much closer to what the pitch of the next string should be. I don't suppose there is anything that can be done to remedy this?
