There was a thread on this some time ago. I was trying to name a band at the time also, so I made a list from that thread. The list is attached. Also, there is a "Random Bad Bluegrass Band Namer" tool here on the Cafe':

No, we did not use any of those names, but we had a lot of fun reading over and discussing them and I think the list helped us be more creative in our brainstorming. We decided we liked the word "renegades" and two of our players live near Catawissa, MO, which is is town that has some local old-time music history. So one of the names our final list was "Catawissa Renegades." We had not actually decided on that name, but then out of the blue, a newspaper reporter called our fiddler and wanted to write about us in an article on a music festival we were scheduled to play. But if we were going to be in the article, the reporter needed a band name for us, right then and there. "Catawissa Renegades" was the only name off our brainstormed list that our fiddler could remember on the spot. The rest is history...

Some things to consider are where you are from... city, state, geographic region.... etc. and throw that into you name.... for instance if you were from Louisville or St. Louis you could have been the Bluegrass Cardinals.... if you were from TN you could be the Tennessee Studs.. may not be appropriate for gospel tho...

The Bluegrass Four
Bluegrass Quartet
The Bobby Brite Bluegrass Band
