I'm looking ahead to the summer (aren't we all . . . ?!!) and have the possibility to take a class with Tom Rozum at a local Blue Grass week-long workshop.

Anyone here taken lesson(s) with Tom? For those who have experienced his teaching, what can you say about his style and method?

Thanks for all help.

When he taught at RockyGrass quite a few years ago, he had materials and a plan of what he wanted to cover. He was also open to cover things students wanted to learn. He knows music & theory and he can communicate it.

It'll be worth taking his class just to learn his approach to backing up a vocalist on the mandolin. He's one of the best at that so don't let him get away without covering that.

Never have taken a 'class' with Tommy, but I'll tell you this: he is the perfect mandolin picker to learn how the instrument fits in a band. From fills, to backup (as Don points out) to tasty tidbits, he is the man.
