59 year old guitar strap. (http://cgi.ebay.com/1950-FENDER-BROADCASTER-or-ESQUIRE-LEATHER-GUITAR-STRAP_W0QQitemZ160311012553QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_D efaultDomain_0?hash=item160311012553&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2|65%3A3|39%3A1|240%3A1318)
And he's charging six bucks to ship it on top of it.

The shipping charges are a deal killer for me. :disbelief:

Looks like an old belt to me...How can you even tell its a fender? And the shipping!!!! 6$ is an outrage.

But the leather isn't as good these days, with the grain being wider, so this will give you that killer vintage tone and this belt...er... strap has had almost 60 years for the sound to open up.

The seller does have 100% feedback, and I wonder what kind of strap I would want on my 1950 Broadcaster, if I had one.

I have a surplus Long Hollow Softy I was going to let go for $12, but now I think I'll wait another 57 years.

We should tie this thread to the "Distressed vs. Regular" (http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=47337) thread above. Maybe someone can start making distressed mandolin straps.

They already do, at least for guitar: the Eld Dorado "Relic Model" strap on this catalog page (http://www.eldoradostraps.com/new-products.htm#banjo).

Quote: "These straps glow with an aged vibe, looking and feeling like a well-worn and well-loved veteran of hundreds of gigs and countless years of use. Constructed of special pre-aged antiqued leather. The perfect strap for your 'relic' guitar."

Actually that company makes nice straps, if a bit pricey. I bet they'd sell a few if they had a relic version of their regular mandolin strap.

It may be $550 but you can get rewards on your eBay mastercard for buying it apparently.

Sign me up! :disbelief:

What was he thinking? Seriously!

On a $12 strap, the buckle is rusted...on a $550 strap...would it be a "patina?"

Actually, I think a Nigerian prince is going snap that up. "Dear friend, I have reviewed your [item] and it appear satisfactory . . . . "
