Will you be there, Phil? I frequent the Great Black Swamp (i.e. the myriad marshes, not necessarily the festival...yet) on the day job in the summer.

I'll do my best to be there, Eugene. Our family is expecting the birth of our daughter in early to mid June, so things will be interesting (no, we're not naming her Amanda-Lynne, though my wife did joke about it). We missed it last year due to some other conflicts, but really hope to make it this year. I heard there was some great old-time mando jamming that I missed.

Would be great to meet you and jam together. Any other folk interested?

-Phil (staying home for half my work-day to play Poppa to the sick younger mandolin "player" in the household)

I'm definitely interested. I missed it last year but hope to make it this year. I play a bit of mandolin but mainly that funny instrument with the peg sticking out of the neck at about the 5th fret.

Oh man, the schedule may be too tight and is getting tighter. I will be sorry to miss it. I might still try to make it out for part of Saturday or Sunday.

festival. Stay tuned for further updates...

This year, I'm emergency substitute teaching ichthyology at Stone Lab on Lake Erie's Gibraltar Island. Today is my only day off and I'm home with family. I will be setting a trap net in remnants of the Great Black Swamp, specifically the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge, on Sunday. Perhaps next year...

Setting traps for the little know wild mandolinetto?

Yeah, someday I'll attend festivals again. Life is taking interesting turns these days.
