This looks like like it wanted to be part of the Masterbilt line:
Epiphone MM-56 (http://cgi.ebay.com/EPIPHONE-MANDOLIN-W-CASE-NEVER-RELEASED_W0QQitemZ220336354274QQcmdZViewItemQQptZL H_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item220336354274&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2|65%3A10|39%3A1|240%3A1318)

That's the new style Epiphone headstock that's been showing up on their recent guitars, I'd be hard pressed to pay that much for it but that's me. It's not a vintage instrument.

And it comes with a really cheesy used case.

I wish they had a better pic of the label; Epi serials are usually prefixed with a factory code, and it might at least say what year it was made, or that it's a prototype or something.

I wouldn't go the asking price for it, either. I've heard Epiphone has a 'yard sale' every so often; I kind of think that's where the seller got it (along with that fine case).

I'm going to guess it mas made in the last year or two. It's not that old.

I like the resurrection of the old Epi peghead style. If that's a firm price I imagine he'll have it for quite a while.

For a starting bid, I think he may have got the decimal in the wrong place...
Still, I'll admit it is a cool color.

Kinda looks like a Kentucky 805. I think that particular mandolin would have had a better reception than the Chinese Flatirons.

It does look like they made a mistake with their opening price. Most of the seller's items are reasonably priced.

Definitely not this one, though...
