I ran across this gem on the Kansas City Craig's list. I concur with the seller: I've never seen anything like it.

Wow! That looks like a cross between a bass drum, a columned Roman temple and, a cutting board. I wonder how heavy it is?

There was a thread, which I can't find, about a mandolin on eBay that was held together with wooden dowels, not too long ago. Cousin of this guitar, perhaps?

It has all the remains of a fine piece of wood about it.....

The mandolin may have been a little more refined. There are two threads, one with a picture of the mandolin and one without. They are here (http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=41089&highlight=dowels) and here (http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=42261&highlight=dowels).

I say leave it be until the earth reclaims it.
There should be some sort of Plan B if the earth happens to reject it.

If I was one of those people who had more money than sense, you know, like the guy that paid $1,068 for the corn flake shaped like Illinois (and why not?) I would snatch up every one of these wierd homemade instruments.
Since I have way less money than sense, I'll just be happy to look at pics.
