Check out this eBay ad (http://cgi.ebay.com/Antique-Mandolin-Pickguard-Parts_W0QQitemZ280292007295QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_D efaultDomain_0?hash=item280292007295&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2|65%3A10|39%3A1|240%3A1318). A Gibson pickguard clamp with an 1893 patent date? I think the seller's right to question what he's got here. On the other hand, if it's authentic it's worth a lot more than he's asking. Anyone seen anything like this before?

I'm not surprised. I thought about buying it myself.

This is an old thread. Do you guys remember this one? Was it real and dated from 1893?

Seems to Me ...
The award at the patent office filed for 1893 would allow it to be stamped on the piece,
for many years there after, right?

it's Not like wine vintage dating.. :whistling:
