does anybody know of such a thing for the mandolin / octave mando?

I've used them for years on my Sobell 10 string mandolin and octave mandolin.
They were put in by Mike Vanden, the luthier from Strontian (Simon Mayor, Martin Taylor etc) who used to have his own Mimesis magnetic pickups. He sold the design to Fishman who manufacture them as Rare Earth.
He essentially customised them for my instruments and I've had them for over 15 years. I still use them on all my gigs.
Might be worth giving him a ring. An hour or so from Fort William, near Glenuig if you should ever be playing there.
