I was very inspired by the "post your webers" thread, so i wanted to see what kind of rigels out there. I know there were some very beautiful finishes out there, as well as imaginative ones. Let me see what you have, and even stories of how you got them. Im a big rigel fan, and im sure there are others of you out there! heres my A+deluxe.

Here's #1774, my "A Natural plus." The ebony bridge came courtesy of the folks at FQMS, the Rigel pickguard and Schaller tuners installed by the Rigel dealer in Pittsburgh; under the hood is the piezo-electric p/u retrofitted at "the Rigel mothershop" in Vermont. The strap is a Rigel Longhollow softy, and the axe fits snugly in the case with the Tone Gard on it. There are more pics in my albums.

I'll try and get a picture of the Q95 that is still here.

I like these specialized,photo threads.

Q95=very cool! First I've seen.

I had a Rigel for about a week. The one that was sent around for interested parties to try out, then pass along. Why don't more mandolin makers do that!?

Somebody post a pic of a Rigel "Jethro",please.

No picture I'm afraid, but I'm still in love with my G-110. I've played lots of other instruments and it's still my favorite by far.

Ted, I've always thought that Jethrine was a beautiful mandolin...thanks for giving us another peek at it.

I thought it was the best sounding mandolin that Pete Langdell and his builders made. I fell in love with it at the Mass St. Music open house several years ago. The Jethro has a great design aesthetic, and sounds great to boot.

Whoa, Trevor!!!

What's that one on the left, is that a Rigel?!?! Cool...

I might take a pic of my A+Deluxe later on, it's the same as all the rest, bone stock.

I'm coming to really love it, btw. I had a friend visit last weekend, a fellow with a fine,
fine collection of instruments. He played the Rigel for about a half hour, looked it all over
and pronounced it "... a really, really great-sounding mandolin!" I was delighted. The strings
were put on... uhhh ... like before Noah rode the Flood, but I can't bring myself to change 'em,
they just 'thunk' so nicely.

You can definitely still get one!i was up in jeffersonville just last week with Pete voicing my new g5, and he is still building them to order. he told me that he always had a little place in his heart for the jethro and the g5, and always liked to work them until they were the perfect tone and playability. i need to see more pictures! what kind of finishes have you guys seen? there have been pictures circulating with blue, green, and pink. any others?

...does the tone match that of the selmer style guitars?

A better comparison would be to the vintage Gibson "Teens" A-body mandolins. One of the intrinsic beauties of the Rigel design process was the ability to internally carve desired tone characteristics before the instrument is finished and the top permanently glued. We aimed to market these with that sound in mind, as well as a Gypsy cosmetic panache (http://jazzmando.com/rigel_q95.shtml). More sweet and "intimate" than the punchy, dry articulated crispness of the Selmer/Maccaferri guitar.

I have owned a G-110 and 3 A Plus Deluxes but your natural sunburst, f holed Jethro is still the one that makes my heart go pitter patter. I played one (maybe yours) on a visit to the Rigel factory a few years ago and instantly fell in love with it. It has everything!! Enuf said..........

Here is a link to #2307, a Q 95 from the archives of Acoustic Music Works in Pgh. NFI, just some tasty eye candy. I'm still wistful over this one. It's just exquisite from every angle.
