I have a blacktop A and I couldn't be happier. Chris is a stand up guy that makes a strong sounding mando. I believe it was Doyle Lawson who got an F from him at Wintergrass and has been seen playing it.

Chris is up and coming in my book. Sound is the first thing he tackled and he's done well by me.

big h,

here is the link to the Carver mandolin website: http://www.carvermandolins.com/contact.html

The mandolins are being built by a guy called Chris Standrige. He apparently lives in Vancouver Washington. He is rovinmando on the cafe.

Am I interested in his mandolins. In a sence that I like to monitor the builders and especially the small ones, yes. I was at the Caslav banjo jamboree in the Czech Republic a couple of years back and Chris Standrige played there with his band. You could read a report of his trip to Europe here: http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=32801&highlight=czech+republic
I found that his (own built) mandolin worked the microphone very well and sounded great over the speakers. I havenīt heard it face to face though. It is interesting that he commented on the very much appreciated high quality of the czech built instruments. He also picks his mandolin well.
