this past friday at our open mic, two gentleman showed up- guitarist and fiddler and proceeded to play a bunch of bg and ot tunes. they insisted i play , though i told em i'm not much of a player in those genres. they told me the chords and i chopped away and attempted the breaks (some were even passable), and played one or two tremoloing straight through as they were sad and soulful, and it was a ton of fun. played a whole bunch of stuff from j.hartford to shady grove (played that one using two finger chords as i know it garcia-grisman style), to ole joe clark and some song with mule in the title. was playing on my oval hole flat top plus (induced arch) mando, but sounded pretty decent on our tape. my fingers ached a bunch the next day, but it was worth it to try something new.

just thought i'd share.
